Joint Area Review

The Joint Area Review is part of the new integrated inspection framework of children's services. It will examine how services across Essex are contributing to the well-being of children and young people. This review took place in Essex from 15 - 26 September 2008 - The JAR report will be published in January

A Joint Area Review is an inspection of all publicly-funded services for children and young people within a local area. It assesses and judges the contributions made by public services to sustaining and improving outcomes for local children and young people.

It is a requirement of the Children’s Act 2004 and is at the request of the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in accordance with arrangements made by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools. Joint Area Reviews will have been conducted in all local authority areas by the end of 2008.
