Q. What can you do if you suspect or know that someone over 18 year is being abused?

In the first instance you should contact the Protection line at ContactEssex on 0845 603 7634 and relay your concerns to them. If you feel that a crime has been committed you may also wish to report the incident to the police.

Ignoring abuse is not an option even if you only suspect that a vulnerable adult is being abused it is important that you act and contact the Protection line at ContactEssex on 0845 603 7634 with your concerns.

 

Q. Who should you contact for help?

In the first instance the Protection line at ContactEssex on 0845 603 7634. You may also need to contact the police if you think a crime has been committed and seek medical assistance if necessary.

 

Q. What guidance should I follow if I am a paid professional worker?

Multi agency guidelines for organisations and practitioners have been prepared by Essex Safeguarding Adults Board(ESAB) representing the key Essex agencies, social services, police, NCSC and health agencies, concerned with the health and welfare of vulnerable adults. They represent co-operation and partnership in respect of this very important issue for everyone involved in the care of vulnerable adults.
