Essex Safeguarding Adults Board Documents
ESAB - Safeguarding Adult Audit Report 2011 This report gives information on the 2011 Safeguarding Adult Audit which was undertaken by 30 different organisations across Essex ranging from the Local Authority, Health, Housing and Supported People.
ESAB - Honour Based Abuse Practice Guidance- This document is to provide guidance to all professionals who work with children or vulnerable adults for dealing with potential or actual cases of honour based abuse/forced marriage/female genital mutilation.
ESAB - HX Care Home Report - This document is the Executive Summary of the HX Care Home Serious Case Review that took place during 2009/10.
ESAB - Your Role in Identifying Institutional Abuse - This guidance document offers practical guidance and information for all staff who are involved in the delivery of health and social care in service settings and applies to people who are in permanent, interim or respite care. The document includes a list of potential indicators of institutional abuse
ESAB – Information Sharing Protocol – This protocol has been developed for information and use of the agencies working with vulnerable adults and carers in Essex. It is primarily for the information and use of the agencies that have signed up to the Essex Trust Charter.
ESAB Communications Strategy – This strategy outlines how ESAB aims to keep its stake holders informed of the most up to date communication information, regarding both the board and safeguarding issues as they arise.
ESAB – Safeguarding Service Users Finances – This document provides recommended practice to all organisations in Essex. It also supports the requirements for supporting people who purchase services directly through direct payments or the personal budgets scheme.
ESAB – Safeguarding Adults Policy Template – This document is aimed at all organisations who require a safeguarding adult policy, to give an idea of what is needed to be included in the policy.
ESAB – Safer Recruitment Standards – This document is aimed for use by all organisations working with vulnerable people in Essex.
Southend/Essex/Thurrock (SET) Joint Documents
SET Safeguarding Adults Guidelines – The Safeguarding Adult guidelines were produced in conjunction with South/Essex/Thurrock safeguarding boards. They inform different groups of people how they can help vulnerable adults across Essex.
SET Safeguarding Adults Staff Handbook – A small A5 sized handbook containing the basic information for safeguarding aimed at all staff working with vulnerable adults, paid or unpaid, this booklet is also a good source of information for members of the general public.
SET Serious Case Review Guidelines – Produced in conjunction with Southend/Essex/Thurrock safeguarding boards, giving full details of the SCR process and the criteria needed to undertake a review.
SET Training Strategy – This strategy has been produced in conjunction with Southend/Essex/Thurrock safeguarding boards. The strategy aims to give a clear training framework across the three authorities for all who work with vulnerable adults and who require training in this area.

Domestic Abuse - Training Standards : Abuse Training Standards- To provide support and ensure consistency across Essex and organisations levels of training have been created to inform the development of training or training that is commissioned.
Domestic Abuse: A Directory of services - This directory gives professionals information and contact details of organisations offering support to victims of domestic abuse and services available to perpetrators
No Secrets 2000 - This document gives guidance to local agencies that have a responsibility to investigate and take action when a vulnerable adult is believed to be suffering abuse. It offers a structure and content for the development of local inter-agency policies, procedures and joint protocols which will draw on good practice nationally and locally.
